Heritage Hunting Safaris

Heritage Safaris is a seasoned & professional outfitter operating in the Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania. Our operation is owner operated with the backing of an exceptionally experienced team whom descend from generations working in the safari industry.

Hunting in Tanzania is often referred to as “The Holy Grail of hunting” by big game hunters all over the world due to the staggering numbers of animals, outstanding trophy quality and an authentic Eastern African experience as experienced by the great hunters of yesteryear.

Tanzania and especially the Selous Game Reserve has an undisputed reputation for producing exceptional dangerous game trophies, and is well represented in the SCI Record Books. The hunting prospects for dangerous game are fantastic. The country is especially highly regarded for Buffalo hunting. The Selous is also very well renowned for the immense population of Crocodile, Hippo, Leopard & Lion, which are abundant in our blocks. Additionally, there is a diverse range of plains game such as Eland, Kudu, Lichtenstein Hartebeest, Nyasa Wildebeest, Roosevelt Sable, etc.

When on safari in the Selous you will be immersed in the largest and oldest wilderness in all of Africa. This is the Selous Game Reserve located in Southern Tanzania, remaining essentially as it was hundreds, if not thousands, of years ago.

Heritage Safaris operates under Luke Samaras Safaris Ltd in the Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania and is affiliated with the following Associations; African Professional Hunters Association (APHA), Tanzanian Professional Hunters Association (TPHA), Custodians of Professional Hunting & Conservation – South Africa (CPHC) & a Life member of Safari Club International (SCI).

We arrived by domestic plane from Zanzibar landing in selous game reserve. We were not delayed and once we reached we entered the reserve with our tour guide Mr. Martin who was especially friendly, helpful, and resourceful, together with our safari driver. It was a full-day tour from 8 AM to 4 PM and included halal lunch. We saw almost all the animals and had a great fulfilling time. Much recommended safari experience indeed! 🦒🦓🐘🦛🐊🦅🐿

Perfect spot for one day safari. You land straight in the bush and go for a trip in 5 min! The park is located at the banks of Rufiji river, so you can find lots of animals: elephants, impalas, gnu, zebrać, crocodiles, hippos, lions and more!

Selous Game Reserve (now Nyerere National Park) is worth a visit. The wild life is abundant and the landscape is stunning with numerous natural lakes and the River Rufuji cutting through.

The largest National Park in Africa. Accessible by road from Dar Es Salaam. There are multiple airstrips within the park. You can take flight from Dar, Zanzibar or Kilimanjaro. Everything is awesome. Big five easy to locate
